Privacy Policy

Effective September 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how FlawCheck (“FlawCheck,” “we,” “us” or “our”) handles information when you visit flawcheck.org, follow our links or contact the FlawCheck Editorial Desk. FlawCheck is an independent product-research publication. The website currently does not offer user accounts, on-site comments, checkout or an email-subscription form.

Information we receive

Information you provide

If you email editorial@flawcheck.org or contact us through a linked social platform, we receive the information you choose to provide. This may include your name, email address, social username, message, attachments and any product evidence or correction details you submit. Do not send passwords, private keys, payment-card details, medical records or other sensitive information.

Technical and security information

When a browser requests a page, our hosting, content-delivery and security provider may process ordinary network information such as IP address, request time, requested URL, browser or device information, referring page, approximate location derived from network information, and security signals. This information is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose failures and maintain security.

Website analytics

FlawCheck uses Cloudflare Web Analytics and performance monitoring to understand aggregate traffic and Core Web Vitals. Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics beacon does not use cookies or browser storage to collect usage metrics and does not fingerprint individuals. The beacon collects performance information related to the page being viewed. Learn more in Cloudflare’s Web Analytics documentation and Privacy Policy.

Local preferences

The light or dark theme preference may be stored in your browser’s localStorage. This preference remains on your device and is used only to display the site in your chosen theme. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser.

Cookies

FlawCheck does not currently place advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies when required for security, bot detection, traffic management or a browser challenge. These cookies are not used by FlawCheck to build advertising profiles. Cloudflare describes its cookies in its cookie documentation.

How we use information

  • Deliver, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website.
  • Measure aggregate traffic and page performance.
  • Respond to corrections, evidence, press questions and other correspondence.
  • Investigate abuse, enforce our terms and comply with valid legal obligations.
  • Maintain editorial records needed to document corrections, sourcing and disclosures.

Legal bases where applicable

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary for our legitimate interests in operating a secure publication, responding to requests and maintaining editorial integrity; to take steps requested by you before entering an agreement; to comply with legal obligations; or with your consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

How information is shared

We may disclose limited information to service providers that help host, secure, route email, measure performance or maintain the website; when required by law or a valid legal process; to protect users, FlawCheck or the public; or as part of a merger, financing, reorganization or transfer of the publication, subject to appropriate safeguards.

FlawCheck does not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use visitor data to create targeted advertising profiles.

External and affiliate links

Articles may link to manufacturers, retailers, publishers, Reddit, Pinterest and other independent websites. Those services receive information directly from your browser when you visit them and apply their own privacy policies. Some retailer links may be affiliate links, as explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. FlawCheck does not receive your payment details from a retailer merely because you follow an affiliate link, although an affiliate network may report aggregated conversion or commission information.

Retention

We retain correspondence and submitted evidence only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain correction or sourcing records, resolve disputes, protect the site and meet legal obligations. Security and network logs are retained according to operational needs and provider settings. Aggregate analytics may be retained for trend comparison. Retention periods may vary when litigation, fraud prevention or a legal hold requires longer storage.

International processing

FlawCheck and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, applicable transfer safeguards are used by the relevant service provider.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection to certain processing, and to appeal a denied request or complain to a data-protection authority. You may also ask what categories of personal information we hold or disclose.

Send a request to editorial@flawcheck.org with the subject “Privacy request.” Describe your request and the email address or account identifier involved. We may request proportionate information to verify that you are the person concerned. Authorized agents should provide evidence of authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Because FlawCheck does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is currently no sale or targeted-advertising opt-out to process. We will treat legally recognized browser signals, including Global Privacy Control, as required if our practices change.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. No website, email system or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Email is not an encrypted tip channel.

Children

FlawCheck is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes may be highlighted on the site. Your continued use after an update is subject to the revised policy.
